Lady Dragons earn share of District 8-2A softball title by rallying past Cisco, 8-6

BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons locked up a share of the District 8-2A softball championship Wednesday with an 8-6 home victory over Cisco.

Bangs (21-6, 7-1) overcame a 4-1 deficit after one inning, scoring once in the second and twice in the third to drew even at 4. The Lady Dragons grabbed a 5-4 advantage in the bottom of the fourth, only for Cisco (17-5, 7-1) to regain a 6-5 lead in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, however, Bangs pushed three more runs across the plate for the winning margin.

The Lady Dragons recorded 12 hits – three by Neeley Bradley, two each by Cheyenne Rush, Abby Wolf and Adalynne Stephens, and one apiece by Julianna Ethridge, Stormy Stringer and Aubree Buford. Stephens and Rush both homered, Wolf tripled and Ethridge doubled. Rush, Wolf, Ethridge, Stringer, Buford and Stephens each finished with one RBI.

In the circle, Wolf tossed all seven innings and surrendered five earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk to notch the victory.

Bangs and Cisco will meet in a seeding playoff game at 5 p.m. Monday in Eula.
