LUBBOCK – Brownwood Lady Lions River Jones and Tristyn Garcia opened play at the two-day, 36-hole Region I-4A golf tournament at Shadow Hills Golf Course Monday with rounds in the 80s.

Garcia carded an opening 87 while Jones, the District 6-4A individual runner-up, posted an opening 89.

The top three teams and top three individuals not on one of the qualifying teams advance to the UIL Class 4A girls golf state tournament April 28-29 at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland.

The final 18 holes of the two-day, 36-hole tournament will take place Tuesday at Shadow Hills Golf Course.
