
The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of April 9:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
- GOOD. Water slightly stained; 67 degrees; 0.43 feet below pool. Black bass to 8.50 pounds are excellent in 1-5 feet of water all around the lake in spawning pockets on Hag’s Tornados, cheat codes in white or green pumpkin, glides baits and Outlier Frogs. Crappie are good to 11 inches on jigs in 2-10 feet. Fish are starting to move shallow. White bass are good to 1.5 pounds on crankbaits late in the day around the lighted docks. Catfish to 8 pounds are slow on jug lines with cut bait and off some of the deeper docks night crawlers and chicken livers.
LAKE CISCO
- GOOD. Water slight stain; 62 degrees; 13.12 feet below pool. Fishing slowed some after the cold front but should improve heading into the weekend. Bass are good in 10 feet of water hitting soft plastic worms. Crappie are transitioning shallow off docks in 10-20 feet of water with minnows. It is nearing the perfect spawning temperature. Catfish are good on worms in 10 feet of water. Report by Lake Cisco Rentals.
LAKE COLEMAN
- FAIR. Water normal stain; 65 degrees; 0.74 feet below pool. As the weather remains consistent expect fishing to improve. Bass are in all stages of the spawn hitting creature baits and soft plastics. Crappie can be caught with minnows or jigs.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
- FAIR. Water slightly stained; 60 degrees; 23.46 feet below pool. Main lake water cooled off from 64 degrees to 58 degrees after the cold front. The water is warming up rapidly. Black bass are good with catches up to 13 pounds with one 16 pounder caught this last week. A lot of fish to 3 pounds reported on shallow points and small pockets in 2-6 feet. Half ounce shad pattern chatterbaits, or small stick worms rigged Texas rigs with a quarter ounce weight flipped around brush worked. Green pumpkin or anything green works best. White bass being reported up both rivers on rattle traps and spinnerbaits over main Creek channels next to Ledges. Crappie are starting to pick up with a few being reported up The Colorado River on minnows and red chartreuse 1/16 ounce jigs. Channel catfish and blue catfish are still good in the rivers and the mouth of creeks in 4-8 feet of water. Variety of baits from shrimp to stink bait and cut shad are working. LAKE PROCTOR
- FAIR. Water stained; 65 degrees; 0.07 feet below pool. Scattered thunderstorms and rain in the weekend forecast. Target catfish with windblown banks and channel edges with fresh bait. Report by Jeffery Sojourner, Sojourner Fishing LLC.
