At Tuesday’s meeting of the Board of Directors, Brown County Water Improvement District, Marcus Lively was named Chief of the Lake Patrol.  Lively, who has worked for the Lake Patrol for several years, has been serving as the Chief on an interim basis since the resignation of Mark Davis in November.  His performance as interim Chief was praised by District General Manager John Allen, who recommended him to the Board.  The Board voted unanimously to promote Lively to Chief of the Lake Patrol on a permanent basis.  Pictured above are Lively and Board President James McMillian.

In other business:

*** The Board voted to hire the accounting firm of Merritt, McLane & Hamby, from Abilene, as auditor for the District’s 2024/2025 fiscal year.  The firm has performed the District’s audits for the past two years, and the Board expressed high satisfaction with their work.

*** The Board approved an agreement with the engineering firm of Freese and Nichols for professional engineering services related to an expansion of the water treatment plant.  The agreement is for $1.6 million for design work on the expansion project.  The cost of the total project is estimated to be $20-30 million.

*** General Manager Allen reported that Lake Brownwood is currently 0.7-feet below full, or 96.0% of capacity.  This time last year the lake was at 59.4% capacity.  Statewide average for Texas lakes is 75.7%.
