With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Connie Huizar, who was born on March 30, 1954, to Miguel and Maria Sanchez of San Saba, Texas. She peacefully joined her heavenly family, including her beloved husband, Fred Huizar, after 41 years of love and devotion.
Connie was the youngest of ten, growing up in a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family bonds. She was a devoted mother to Lenora Salazar, Rudy Sanchez, Joey Huizar, and her granddaughter, Elvira Huizar, whom she lovingly raised as her own. She was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished dearly. She loved her two precious pups Sarah and Sassy.
Connie was a committed, hardworking provider for her family. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly—whether at Frozen Foods in Lampasas, as a nurse’s aide, an in-home caregiver, house cleaner, and teachers aid. No matter the job, Connie did the work with confidence and a generous spirit, never shying away from hard work. She always made sure her family was taken care of.
Connie’s proudest accomplishment was owning Consuelo’s Taco Hut, where her love for cooking touched the hearts and stomachs of many. Her food was loved by family, friends, and even local film star Tommy Lee Jones, who enjoyed it so much that he invited her to his ranch. The school kids loved her tacos. Students from San Saba schools would walk down just to grab one, then head back before the bell rang. At Connie’s Taco Hut, no one ever left hungry— She made sure everyone was fed and got a taco whether they had money or not.
She would start her mornings extra early to cook for the local construction workers and friends commuting to Kohler in Brownwood. She would let them run a tab throughout the week, knowing they’d always come back and pay her on Friday. It was thoughtful gestures like these her selflessness and deep love for her community that she will always be remembered for.
Connie loved garage sales—both attending them and having her own. She had an eye for treasure and a love for making deals, always finding joy in the little things. Her love for food was another joy; her children loved taking her out to eat dinner and watching her eyes light up with excitement and hearing her funny remarks about portion sizes of her food and drink being “too big” or “too small”. Nothing compared to the warmth of her homemade tortillas, beef and bean, and steak tacos, a tradition of love she shared with her family.
Above all, Connie was a caregiver in every sense of the word, always putting others before herself. She selflessly cared for her father and husband in their final days, ensuring they were surrounded by love and comfort until the end. She also cared to health her granddaughter Alyssa, who was diagnosed with a rare condition in 1993. Connie’s love and compassion knew no bounds—
In the heart of San Saba, Connie was known and loved by many for her strength, and a spirited nature that sometimes came with a sharp wit. Her love for her family will forever be cherished. Though she is no longer with us in body, her fiery spirit and unforgettable charm and wit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Huizar, her parents, Mary and Mike Sanchez, her siblings Lupe Ynostrosa, Janie Macias, Mickey Cadena, Jesus Calderon, Santos Sanchez, and Mike Sanchez jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Lenora Salazar & fiancé Juan Morado of Fort Worth, Rudy Sanchez & wife Tracey Sanchez of Lampasas, Joey Huizar of San Saba, and Elvira Huizar also of San Saba, TX. Her beloved grandchildren: Alyssa Felan, Jeremy Salazar, Jayme Salazar, Marissa Salazar, Mackenzie Sanchez and wife Mari Bishop, Lelia Sanchez, Jace Sanchez, Christopher Stone and wife Montana Stone, Mckayla Craig, Nevaeh Huizar, Hayden Harbour, and Mckenna Huizar. Her precious great-grandchildren: Julian Morales, Jaxson Morales, Emma Morales, Brentley Stone, Kylie Stone, Jordyn Rios, and Addisyn Rios. Her siblings: Virginia Garcia, Margie Solis, and Thomas Barajas. Additionally, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including Teresa Sanchez and Peter Sanchez, who were raised alongside her.
We are forever grateful for the love, laughter, and cherished memories that Connie gave us. Though she is gone, her legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts for all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in San Saba, Tx. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.
