
The Brownwood Fire Department issued the following press release regarding a Monday structure fire on Avenue E that resulted in $50,000 worth of damage:
At approximately 6:31 PM Monday April 6, 2025, the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1605 Avenue E. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes and observed a large amount of smoke coming from the structure. Firefighters ventilated the structure prior to making entry. Once inside they encountered high heat and smoke conditions. After approximately 30 minutes the fire was brought under control using hose lines. No injuries were reported. The apartment complex was vacant with no residents residing there at this time. Following the investigation, the cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical in nature. The apartment complex suffered significant damage.
It took 29 minutes to get the fire under control and units were on scene for 2 hours and 16 minutes. Assisting the Brownwood Fire Department were the Early Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department, Lifeguard Ambulance, Oncor, Atmos and Brownwood Code Enforcement.
