Lions, Lady Lions golf teams in second place midway through District 6-4A tournament

ABILENE – The Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions golf teams find themselves in second place at the midway point of the District 6-4A golf tournament.

The Lions on Monday fired a 297 team score at Live Oak Golf Course, which left them three strokes behind front-runner Brock (294). A second team from Brock was in third place just one shot back of Brownwood after a 298.

The Lady Lions posted a 368 team score, which trailed only Glen Rose (326) and was comfortably in front of third-place Brock (380).

The second and final round of the tournament takes place Tuesday as the top two teams, and top two individuals not on one of those teams, moves on to the Region I-4A tournament at Shadow Hills Golf Course in Lubbock April 14-15 for the girls and April 16-17 for the boys.

Leading the way for the Lions was Caleb Modawell with a round 72 trailed by Cobe Walker with a 73, Will Stewardson with a 74 and Peyton Sharp carded a 78.

For the Lady Lions, River Jones fired a 77 followed by Tristyn Garcia with an 85, London England with an 88, Geyer Stewardson with a 118 and Jacie Camp with a 134.
