David Petterle

David Petterle, age 85, passed away on March 18, 2025, in Brownwood, Texas. He was born on December 31, 1939, in Oakley, California, to Alfred Petterle and Dorothy Palmer.

David earned an associate’s degree in Horticulture and took great pride in his yard, finding joy in gardening and cultivating beautiful landscapes. A true people person, he loved to socialize and would visit Rayleas grocery store multiple times a day just to chat with those around him.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and carried that honor throughout his life. He had a deep love for his family and was known fr his throwing wonderful gatherings, especially during his favorite holiday, Christmas. His passion for classic cars was well known among his friends and loved ones.

Above all, David adored his wife, Madeline, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He is survived by his wife, Madeline; sons, David Petterle and Thomas Franklin and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Aaron, Stephanie (“Stefy Bird”), Maria and Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Jordy, Grace, Scott, Oliver, Nathan, Sydney, and Liam.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Dorothy Petterle, and his son Manuel.

A graveside service will be held at the VA Abilene Cemetery on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
