Rosa Solis Castaneda

Rosa Solis Castaneda, age 82 of Brownwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in Brownwood. Visitation and rosary will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 19, at Saint Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery.

Rosa was born on September 20, 1942 in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico to Josepha Arizpe Solis and Manuel Solis. She married Inosencio Castaneda Sr. in Villa Union. After moving to Texas, she settled in Brownwood and worked for Brownwood Manufacturing for over 30 years as a seamstress. Rosa loved cooking for her family, gardening, and sewing. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Rosa is survived by her children, Pascual Castaneda Sr., Jose “Joe” M. Castaneda and wife Lydia, Francisco Castaneda Sr. and wife Martina, Rose Sierra and husband Jose, Lydia Fernandez; her grandson that she raised as a son, Hector Castaneda; grandchildren, Graciela Castaneda, Juana Pineda, Consuelo Gonzales, Chris Castaneda, Michael Castaneda, Daniel Castaneda, Pascual Castaneda Jr, Bobby Castaneda, Luis Castaneda, Juan Carlos “Johnny” Castaneda, David Castaneda, John Anthony Castaneda, Francisco Castaneda Jr, Rolando Castaneda, Reyna Williamson, Karina Castaneda, Hugo Villarreal, Monica Villarreal, Olga Villarreal, Destiny Morales, Tiffany Espinosa; 56 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great-granchildren. Rosa is also survived by her siblings, Guadalupe Mares, Olga Lopez, and Juanita Vasquez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Inosencio Castaneda Sr., sons, Inosencio Castaneda Jr. Adan “Adam” Castaneda; step son, Jose Erasmo Castaneda; grandson, Inosencio Castaneda III; and siblings, Francisco Solis, Arturo Solis, Fructoso Solis, Gregorio Solis, and Gloria Rocha.
