EARLY – The Early Lady Horns softball team snapped a two-game District 8-3A skid and evened their league record at 2-2 with a 3-2 home victory over Breckenridge Friday night.

Trailing 1-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Horns (11-4 overall) started their rally with a lead-off single to left field by Kyleigh Caperton. Marissa Reedy then walked to put runners on first and second with no outs, where Aleeya McCombs doubled to right field to plate both runners and stake Early to a 2-1 advantage.

After surrendering the tying run in the top of the seventh, Early came back to the plate the winning run in the bottom half of the frame after receiving a lead-off triple from Sydney Greaves. Tiffany Phelps then laid down a bunt that was able to plate Greaves and clinch the victory for the Lady Horns.

The Lady Horns generated eight hits – three by Jordan Simmons, along with one each from Greaves, Phelps, Caperton, McCombs and Andie Simpson.

In the circle, Leslee Beard and Caperton combined to allow one earned run on four hits with one strikeout and seven walks. The Lady Horn defense committed a pair of errors behind them.

Early is back in action at 5 p.m. Tuesday when it travels to Eastland.
