GOLDTHWAITE – The Bangs Dragons completed the pre-district portion of their baseball schedule Thursday with a 13-3 victory at Goldthwaite.

Bangs led 3-0 after two innings, Goldthwaite trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the third, and the Dragons extended the lead to 7-2 in the fourth and never looked back. Bangs tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning and four in the seventh, while Eagles tallied just one more run in the fifth.

The Dragons collected 12 hits, drew seven walks and were aided by seven Goldthwaite errors.

Standouts at the plate included Skylar Minshew and Caiden Orosco with two hits and a pair of RBIs each; Hunter Crowell and Kaleb Biggs with two hits and one RBI apiece; Everett Kirschner with a pair of hits; Connor Bible with one hit and one RBI; and Brennan Mendieta with a hit as well.

On the mound, Crowell, Jaxon Duncan and Kason Klutts combined to surrender three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and six walks. The Bangs defense did not commit an error.

The Dragons (9-3) begin District 5-2A action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they host Coleman.
