It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Grace Lawson, who departed this world on 03/05/2025 at the age of 88, peacefully at her home. Grace was a beloved spouse, parent, grandparent, friend, and community member whose presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The family will host a Celebration of Life on March 22, 2025 from 1:00-4:00 at J-R’s Social Club located at 5995 HWY 67/87 Brownwood, TX 76801. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate the life of Grace Lawson.

Grace Virginia McGovern Lawson was born October 20, 1936 to Albert and Martha McGovern in Brackettville, Texas to Albert and Martha McGovern.

Grace cherished her personal life. On July 29, 1981 she married Ben Lawson SR. until his passing February of 2011. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. As a parent of a blended family, she was devoted and nurturing, always putting her family first. All her children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments. She drove a school bus for many years and loved her job working with the children.

Grace had a passion for and life in general. She loved going on cruises with her special friend, Fred Clayton and her granddaughter. Grace loved to gamble, go on cruises and meet new people; she never met a stranger. Her big smile and boisterous laugh were contagious. She liked to sew, read and enjoyed her quiet time as well. She was our go-to person for advice, laughter, or just a hug.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Albert McGovern and Mother Martha McGovern; her husband Ben Lawson; her children Mark Lynch, Terri (Missy) Lynch, Jackie Lawson, Johnny Roberts, Belinda Roberts, Betty Forester, and Travis D. Reeves.

Grace leaves behind a legacy of Love, Kindness, and unwavering dedication. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. Grace is survived by Clarence (JR) Reeves, Bruce and Teresa Tiner, Mike and Iris Turner, John and Barbara Cassidy, Ben (Bo) Lawson Jr, Willie Lawson, Donnie and Carol York, Billy Lawson, Wade and Anita Canon, Yvonne Reeves, Brian Duke, Frankie Roberts, Ricky Roberts, Becky Timmons, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great greatgrandchildren who I wish we could name each and every one, but the page is not big enough.

Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a passion for life. She touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire, and their memory will be cherished forever.

As we mourn the loss of Grace, we also celebrate a life well-lived. Their love, wisdom, and laughter will remain with us always. Rest in peace, your light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew you dear Mama, Granny Grace.
