Early splits two games at Albany baseball tournament

ALBANY – The Early Longhorns notched their second win of the season, 4-0 over Cisco, and were dealt an 8-3 loss by Albany Friday in Albany baseball tournament action.

Against Cisco, Early pushed one run across the plate in the bottom of the first inning and added three more in the fourth.

Chris Ivy tossed a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and four walks, and the Early defense committed one error.

At the plate, the Longhorns collected four hits – two by Jaxson Stockman and one each from Ivy and Eli Pallette. Early also drew one walk and was aided by six Cisco errors.

In the loss to Albany, the game was knotted at 1 going to the bottom of the fourth inning where the Lions struck for seven runs. The Longhorns attempted to rally in the top of the fifth, but only mustered two runs.

The Longhorns were limited to only three hits – two by Skyden Stoddart and one by Stockman, who drove in two. Pallette also contributed an RBI.

On the mound, Brayden Moya and Brennan Rasor combined to give up four earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and five walks. The Early defense was credited with four miscues.

Early (2-7) is back in action at 1 p.m. Tuesday as it starts District 8-3A action at Comanche.
