Bangs baseball collects wins over Santo, Gorman at De Leon tournament

DE LEON – The Bangs Dragons kicked off action in the De Leon baseball tournament Friday with victories of 5-4 over Santo and 12-6 over Gorman.

Against Santo, the Dragons scored once in the first inning and added four runs in the second. Santo scored once in the fourth inning, twice in the fifth and one time in the bottom of the seventh.

Bangs finished with six hits – two each from Connor Bible and Kason Klutts and one apiece from Hunter Crowell and Skylar Minshew, who finished with two RBIs, while Quentin Myles also collected an RBI.

On the mound, Crowell, Minshew, Bible and Kaleb Biggs combined to yield two earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and two walks. The Dragons defense committed three errors behind them.

Versus Gorman, Bangs trailed 6-5 heading to the top of the fifth inning where the Dragons erupted for five runs and added two more in the sixth.

Bangs produced 10 hits – two each by Crowell, Minshew and Biggs, and one apiece by Bible, Myles, Jaxon Duncan and Everett Kirschner. Duncan, Biggs and Minshew led the charge with three RBIs apiece while Bible contributed a pair.

Crowell and Duncan combined to allow two earned runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and three walks, while the Bangs defense committed three errors.

The Dragons (6-3) conclude tournament action at 11:30 a.m. Saturday against Dublin.
