Funeral services for Helen Deeds, age 94, of Rochelle, will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 7, 2025, in the Mercury Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Cox Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mrs. Deeds passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025.

Helen Fay Underwood Deeds was born on July 31, 1930, to Robert Ridley Underwood and Jimmie Maude Collingsworth Underwood in Lohn, Texas. She was the youngest of eight children, with four brothers and three sisters. Helen grew up in the Lohn, Fife, and Elm Grove areas. She was voted Football Queen and Most Popular at Richland Springs High School, where she graduated. When visitors came to see Helen, she often enjoyed sharing her high school yearbook, reminiscing about the memories with them.

In 1946, after the passing of Edward Deeds, Helen’s mother sent her to the Deeds household to help by washing dishes. It was there that she met the love of her life, Bobby D. Deeds. When Helen saw Bobby walk into the kitchen, and he saw her, they both asked someone else, “Who was that?” The very next night, Bobby came to visit her at home. They married on August 9, 1947, beginning a lifelong journey together. Over the years, they lived in Blanket, Brady, and Elm Grove, raising three children: Bobby, Brenda, and Benny.

Helen worked as a housewife, a hairdresser, and a real estate broker. She proudly owned Helen Deeds Real Estate in Brady, Texas, for more than 15 years.

Helen loved her family, especially the summer visits from her grandchildren, and she treasured the time spent fishing, hunting, cooking, dancing, and singing. Above all, her love for the Lord was central to her life. Helen was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and rodeos, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on. She was known for her beautiful smile, her heart of gold, and her infectious sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby D.; her parents, Robert (Bob) and Jimmie; and her brothers, Floyd, Louie, RC, and Billy. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lois, Thelma, and Alta, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is survived by her children: Bobby E. Deeds, Brenda May and husband Danny, and Benny Deeds; grandchildren: Lance Rabenaldt and wife Tonya, Cody Rabenaldt and wife Jennifer, Bobby Edward Deeds II and wife Ashley, Billy D. Deeds and Meredith, Lacey Blackburn and husband Brandon, Kelly Deeds, and Jerry Don Moss and wife Autumn; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Rhett Rabenaldt and wife Morgan, Katelyn Potts and husband Hunter, Creet, Hutch, Signe, Shadie Grace, Cash, and Trigger Rabenaldt; Ethan, Evan, and Easton Deeds; Lillie, Gunner, JC, Ryder, and Georgia Deeds; Grayson and Hudson Blackburn; Aaron Moss and wife Sarah and Reagan Moss.

Great-great-grandchildren: Hilton Potts, Asa Rabenaldt, Eli, Emma, and Ella Moss.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the Deeds family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net
