LLANO – The Early Lady Horns remained unbeaten on the season Friday with a victory over Trinity Christian and a tie against Glen Rose at the Llano tournament.

The Lady Horns won their ninth straight game, 7-6 over Trinity Christian, to start the day’s action.

Tied at 2 after one inning, Early grabbed a 7-2 advantage in the bottom of the second but Trinity Christian closed the gap to 7-6 in the top of the third. The game ended due to time limit after three full innings.

The Lady Horns finished with 11 hits – three by Kyleigh Caperton, two apiece by Andie Simpson and Jordan Simmons, and one each by Marissa Reedy, Aleeya McCombs, Jamie Lyon and Jamie Vassar. McCombs and Simmons tallied two RBIs apiece while Caperton, Reedy, and Simpson were each credited with one.

In the circle, Leslee Beard went the distance and surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits with one strikeout and one walk. The Early defense did not commit an error.

In a 4-4 tie with Glen Rose, the Lady Horns jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Lady Tigers rallied. Early again grabbed a 4-3 edge in the top of the fifth, but Glen Rose knotted the score in its final at-bat in the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Horns produced nine hits – three by Reedy, who drove in one; two from McCombs, who plated one; two from Caperton; one from Simpson, who recorded two RBIs; and one from Sydney Greaves.

Beard pitched all five innings and gave up two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks. The Early defense committed a pair of errors.

Early (9-0-1) will conclude tournament action at 9:30 a.m. Saturday against Austin LASA.
