Brownwood High School Art Students Earn Awards at UIL Visual Arts Scholastic Event

Mrs. Van Huss’ BHS Art students participated in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event, Regional UIL competition in San Angelo, TX on Saturday, February 22. Each student was interviewed and judged on the artwork they created. Submissions were scored on a scale of 1 through 4, with 4 being the highest score.

“Several students entered more than one piece,” stated Mrs. Van Huss. “The students brought home 11 gold medals by advancing to district!”

  • Lynn Lee Crosby received a 4 on her Acrylic Painting and a 4 on Clay sculpture
  • Haley Partin received a 4 on her Colored Pencil Drawing and a 4 on her Clay sculpture
  • Savannah Johnson received a 3 on her Acrylic Painting
  • Elizabeth Black received a 4 on her Painting
  • Kaitlyn Bond received a 4 on her Clay Sculpture
  • Stormy Nelson received a 4 on her Pencil Drawing and a 3 on her Watercolor Painting
  • Shari Ray received a 4 on her Acrylic Painting and a 3 on her Colored Pencil Drawing
  • Amy Deechaleune Vigo received a 4 oh both of her Acrylic Paintings
  • Kaelyn Guerrero received a 4 on her 3D Yarn sculpture and a 3 on her Watercolor Painting
