The office of District Attorney Micheal Murray issued the following press release Wednesday morning:

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, a Brown County Jury returned a verdict against Brandon Stevens for 99 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division for the offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of Young Child.

In the late summer of 2023, the Brownwood Police Department became aware of some threatening text messages sent to a mother of a young child in the community. During their investigation, they questioned Brandon Stevens and discovered he had been accused of having sexually inappropriate relationships with a family member in the past.

Stevens confessed to law enforcement multiple acts of sexual abuse against multiple children over a time frame spanning over a decade. Subsequent investigative efforts uncovered additional children Stevens had victimized.

Stevens’ trial began on February 10th and concluded Tuesday evening with the punishment verdict.

Continuous Sexual Abuse of Young Child is a special range felony that carries a punishment of 25-99 years or Life in prison with no opportunity for parole. The case was tried by Assistant District Attorney Cara Landers and First Assistant District Attorney Elisha Bird.
