Jose Erasmo Castaneda, age 69, of Brownwood, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Visitation and Rosary will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday, February 17, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, February 18, at Saint Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood.

Jose was born to Inosencio Castaneda and Feliz Estrada on March 26, 1955 in Santa Ana, Coahuila, Mexico. He attended school in LaLuz, Coahuila. Jose married the love of his life, Martha Castaneda on December 30, 1976, in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico. After moving to Texas, Jose and Martha started their family, having a son and two daughters. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church for many years. Jose worked for Waldrop Construction for over 20 years before retiring.

Jose was a devoted family man, a rancher at heart and a lifelong Texas Rangers fan. He found his greatest joy at his beloved ranch at Lake Brownwood, tending to his farm animals and embracing the peaceful rhythm of country life. A dedicated baseball enthusiast, he cheered passionately for the Texas Rangers through every season, win or lose. Above all, Jose cherished his family – his greatest pride and joy – especially his three grandchildren, who brought endless love and laughter to his life. His happiest days were spent at home enjoying the blessings of his well-earned retirement alongside his loving wife, Martha. His warmth, wisdom and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jose is survived by his wife, Martha Castaneda; his children, Erasmo Castaneda of Brownwood, Jasmin Castaneda and husband Samuel Vasquez of Early and Jacqueline Galvez and husband Michael of Brownwood; grandchildren, Aidelyn Riquetty, Christian Galvez and Cole Galvez; his mother, Feliz Estrada; siblings, Anabel Cardenas of Dublin, Alejo Hernandez, Saul Hernandez, Rosa Sierra, Francisco Castaneda, Jose Castaneda, Lydia Fernandez and Pascual Castaneda, all of Brownwood; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jose was preceded in death by his father, Inosencio Castaneda, in addition to Adam Castaneda, Inosencio Castaneda Jr., Olegario Campos and maria Elena Campos.
