Nickey Allen Slatton, 68 of Brownwood, Texas passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025. A graveside service will be held by the family at Greenleaf Cemetery, 2:00 PM, Friday, February 14, 2025.

Lovingly called PawPaw although he simply wanted to be called Grandpa, Nickey was his grandkids favorite and they were his. Every Sunday was family day and everyone made sure to commit to food and football games and family time. Nickey loved the Dallas Cowboys but was good watching any team lately as long as the game is good. Nickey was born September 19, 1957 to Joe Canant and Verda Allen. Verda married William “Bill” Slatton and Nickey took Bill’s name since he was the man who raised him. He attended Brownwood High School and went to the US Army after school. Nickey played as a drummer in a rock band that consisted of him and all his buddies hanging out all the time just playing some Rock’n’roll. Nickey really enjoyed Rock’n’roll such as Led Zeplin, CCR, Black Sabbath and Nickleback. Nickey’s favorite thing was sitting by the creek with his son, listening to music.

Nickey is survived by his son Nicholas Slatton and wife Brittany of Brownwood; sister, Linda Hammonds of South Dakota; grandsons, Christopher Slatton-Boyd of Garfield, Texas, Kaden Slatton-Boyd of Brownwood, Jacob Slatton and Tristan Slatton of Brownwood; 1 ½ great grandkids, Nova Jones and Taden Laurles Boyd will make his debut around April 28th of this year; 6 nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.

Nickey was preceded in death by his parents, Verda and Joe; brother, Carl; and sister, Sherry.

Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
