Sentences of 30, 25 years among those handed down in district court

The office of District Attorney Micheal Murray issued the following press release regarding felony cases recently heard in 35th District Court by Judge Mike Smith.

  • Charles Austin Shaw pled guilty to the felony offense of Evading Arrest and was sentenced to 30 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division. Further, Shaw pled guilty to the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled substance and was sentenced to 20 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.
  • Brandon Shay Gruben pled guilty to the felony offense of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 25 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.
  • Gary Wynn Franqui, on probation for the felony offense of Driving While Intoxicated, was revoked and sentenced to 7 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.
  • Christopher Lee Salazar, on probation for the felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, was revoked and sentenced to 5 years, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Institutional Division.
  • Brooke Cherie Smith, on probation for the state jail felony offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, was adjudicated and sentenced to 18 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.
  • Douglas Wesley Barnett pled guilty to the state jail felony offense of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and was sentenced to 17 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.
  • LC Williams pled guilty to the state jail felony offense of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and was sentenced to 16 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division.
  • Michael Lee Kemmitz pled guilty to the state jail felony offense of Evading Arrest – Prior Conviction and was sentenced to 6 months, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, State Jail Division
