Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday morning:

The Brownwood ISD Spotlight recognizes members of our faculty and staff that go the extra mile to ensure excellence in education for all our students.  We are extremely proud of our teachers and support personnel, and it is a pleasure to recognize members of our team for the jobs they do.  It is important to note that these Spotlight recipients are chosen from peer nominations.  To be nominated by one’s co-workers is the highest of compliments, because those closest to you can see what is truly being done to positively impact students. Thank you to Jacobs Family Pharmacy for sponsoring this monthly spotlight through a partnership with the Brownwood Education Foundation! Congratulations to Sherri Land and Matthew Lowrey, our February 2025 Spotlight honorees.

This month’s spotlight teacher is Sherri Land. Ms. Land is a 4th grade Science and Social Studies teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Howard Payne University and is certified in Science (4-8), Generalist (EC-6), and ESL (EC-8). This is her eleventh year with Brownwood ISD.

Although this is her first year at Woodland Heights, Ms. Land has quickly become an invaluable part of the team. Her expertise in the GT program has elevated her teaching and has helped her in providing guidance and support to her colleagues. Known for her willingness to lend a helping hand, she is often one of the first to volunteer for family nights and staff events. Ms. Land’s
lessons are both challenging and engaging, designed to be accessible to students of all abilities. She’s an amazing teacher and the students love going to her class.

Brownwood ISD is proud to celebrate educators like Ms. Land, who make our schools exceptional places to learn and grow.

Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Matthew Lowrey! Mr. Lowrey serves as the Network Administrator for the Brownwood ISD Technology Department. A proud Brownwood High School graduate, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Howard Payne University and holds a Cisco Certified Networking Associate certification. Mr. Lowrey has been with Brownwood ISD for seven years.

As the Network Administrator, Mr. Lowrey is proficient and knowledgeable in the vast, varying, and complex Information Technology systems used throughout Brownwood ISD. Whether assisting staff and teachers with everyday hardware or application needs or handling the more intricate network and communications configurations and maintenance, he approaches every task with expertise. Though his role can often be demanding and stressful, Mr. Lowrey consistently maintains a calm, cheerful, and professional demeanor.

Brownwood ISD is fortunate to have dedicated staff like Mr. Lowrey, who go above and beyond to provide outstanding technical support to our schools, staff, and students.
