William E. “Bill” Sikes, of Brownwood, passed away on January 22, 2025. He was born on November 9,1933, in Eastland. He was married to Zena Grissom Sikes. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 24, before Zena’s passing on August 21, 2024.

He completed his high school education in Eastland, and then graduated from Texas Christian University in 1954 on a football scholarship. He served in the US Army for two years before starting his career. He went to work for Humble Oil Company (Exxon) in El Paso before he bought the Exxon Distributorship in Brownwood. He spent the last 61 years enjoying life. He said, “His legs had walked all over Texas playing golf, fishing and hunting.”

Papa is survived by his daughter, Cindy Adams, grandchildren, Emily and LV Coffee, Sarah Sikes and Zachary Sikes; his great-grandchildren, Kennedy Coffee, Kamryn Coffee, Korbin Sigler and Jade Sigler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zena Sikes, son Bill Sikes, and grandson, Wesley Adams.

The family would like to thank all of the amazing staff of Stephenville Nursing and Rehabilitation for the last year and half of wonderful care. They had become like family to us all. We would also like to thank Wings over Texas Hospice (Kate and Adrianna) for their wonderful care.

The family will have a Memorial Service for Zena and Bill on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at First Methodist Church,2500 11th St. Brownwood, at 2:00 pm. There will be a private burial in the Eastland City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Methodist Church, Brownwood or Stephenville Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be shared with the Sikes family at heartlandfuneralhome.com
