HOOPS ROUNDUP: May sweeps Rising Star, Zephyr boys top Mullin, Early drops two to Comanche

May Tigers 61, Rising Star 20

RISING STAR – The TABC Class A No. 16 May Tigers secured their 22nd victory in a row and remained undefeated in District 21-A action with a 61-20 road win over over Rising Star Tuesday.

May (23-1, 7-0) led 20-7 after one quarter, 37-11 at halftime, and 55-13 heading to the fourth period.

Brody Stice scored 14 points for the Tigers trailed by 12 from Jackson Lusk, 10 from Kobey Morris, eight from Tyran Perry, six from Ben Harrell, four from Mikey Scheriger, three from Kaiden Adams, and two points each from Kaden Watkins and JD White.

The Tigers will next visit Granbury NCTA at 2 p.m. Saturday in non-district action.

Zephyr Bulldogs 80, Mullin 19

MULLIN – The Zephyr Bulldogs remained undefeated and atop the District 25-A standings with an 80-19 road victory over Mullin Tuesday night.

Zephyr led 30-6 after one quarter, 47-14 at halftime, and 60-16 through three periods.

Scoring for the Bulldogs were Wyatt Stevens with 16 points, Cooper Walls with 14, Ethan Byers and Hunter Davidson with 12 apiece, Reese Hamm with 11, Cash Whisenhunt with eight, Johnny Paul Evans-Rollins with five, and CJ Byers with two points.

Zephyr next hosts Lometa Friday night.

May Lady Tigers 61, Rising Star 9

RISING STAR – The May Lady Tigers kept the top spot in District 21-A with their 14th victory in a row, 61-9 at Rising Star Tuesday.

May (16-8, 9-0) led 25-1 after one quarter, 37-9 at halftime, and 50-9 heading to the fourth period.

Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Mia Musick with 14 points, Chloe Lord with 10, Kenlyn King with nine, Jordyn Gerhardt with eight, McKenna Landes and Summer Hicks with six each, Cortney Harper with five, and Aubree Gerhardt with three points.

The May girls are scheduled to host Gustine Friday.

Comanche Maidens 47, Early Lady Horns 37

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns were defeated by District 8-3A front-runner Comanche, 47-37, Tuesday night.

The Lady Horns (17-12, 7-3) received nine points from Andie Simpson, eight each from Jamie Vassar and Gabby Benson, five from Avery Williams, three from Aliyah Harlan, and two points each from Pearl Sharp and Jordan Simmons.

Early visits Breckenridge Friday.
