The 27th Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will be accepting entries from 5 – 8 PM on Friday, January 31 and again from 9 AM – noon on Saturday, February 1 for consideration for entry into the show at the Depot Civic & Cultural Center located at 600 E. Depot Street in Brownwood. Entry pre-registrations are being accepted online prior to these dates through a pre-registration form to speed up the intake process.

Juror for this year’s exhibit will be renowned artist Tim Harding – who will judge the entries from noon – 4:30 PM on Saturday, February 1. Harding, of Fort Worth, is currently an associate professor of art at Tarleton State University. He received his masters of fine art from Texas Christian University, and his bachelors of fine art from Texas Women’s University. Harding was a visiting artist at the Center for Creative Connections at the Dallas Museum of Art; has created four exhibitions; been a part of an artist collective; held three residencies; and has exhibited nationally in Texas, New York, Vermont and more.

Artists will be notified whether their submissions have been selected for inclusion in this year’s show.   If entries are not selected, artists must pick-up their piece upon conclusion of judging. Entries not selected may be entered into the Salon des Refuses at the Art Association in Downtown Brownwood. There is no additional entry fee for this show.

Submissions that are selected to be included in the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will be eligible for special awards, selected by the Juror. Over $7000 in awards will be given to the winning artists at an invitation only awards ceremony and opening reception on Feb. 8.

The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit will be open for viewing by the public at the Depot Civic & 2025 Cultural Center, at no charge, during the following hours:

February 9 – 22
Sunday : 1-5 PM
Monday – Friday : 9 AM – 6PM
Saturday : 10 AM – 5 PM

Special artists demonstrations, will be held on Feb. 13 and 20 from 9am to 3pm.

Each February the Brownwood Civic and Cultural Center hosts the annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. This juried exhibit runs for two weeks and culminates with the presentation of over $7,000 in prizes. The Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit was conceived in 1999 in order to showcase the newly restored Santa Fe Depot.
