The 2024 Brownwood Lions football campaign was celebrated Monday night with the annual Mother’s Club Banquet held at the Coggin Avenue Church Connection Center.

Among the evening’s events, the Offensive MVP and Defensive MVP were awarded to Ian Barrera and Noah Gonzalez, respectively, while the Heather Edmonds Heart of Lion Award went to Julius Lara.

Scholarships were awarded to senior Lions as well, as three $2,000 Deborah Ellis Memorial Scholarships were presented to Enrique Vazquez, Braeden Stacks and Weston Wolf; the Leslie Adams Memorial Scholarship went to Keedan Brooks; and the Chris Hart Memorial Scholarship was bestowed upon Elbion Thaqi.

The 2024 Lions, in head coach Sammy Burnett’s seventh season at his alma mater, finished the year with a 6-5 overall record, a third consecutive bi-district championship, 16th straight postseason appearance, 51st trip to the playoffs overall, and 78th postseason victory in program history.
