January Sales Tax Up in Bangs, Down in Brownwood & Early

January sales tax allocations for Brown County were released this week by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.  The City of Bangs received an allocation higher than January 2024, while both Brownwood’s and Early’s allocations were lower than last year.  January sales tax allocations reflect taxable retail sales in November 2024.  Details below:

BROWNWOOD

The City of Brownwood received $542,998, down 8.49% compared to January 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date (October 2024 through January 2025) Brownwood has received $2,298,487, down 2.56% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District received $180,171, down 8.97% compared to January 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date the Brownwood MDD has received $751,101, down 2.70% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

EARLY

The City of Early received $164,886, down 13.29% compared to January 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date Early has received $724,247, down 12.48% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Early Municipal Development District received $54,407, down 13.16% compared to January 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date the Early MDD has received $237,685, down 12.22% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

BANGS

The City of Bangs received $21,193, up 6.72% compared to January 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date Bangs has received $97,361, up 14.07% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.

The Bangs Municipal Development District received $3,299, up 3.81% compared to January 2024.  Fiscal year-to-date the Bangs MDD has received $13,023, up 4.33% vs. the previous fiscal year-to-date.
