Richard Walker, age 69, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family and dogs on January 5, 2025.

He was born in Lubbock, on January 18, 1955, to Lawrence and Lucille Walker. Raised on a farm near Portales, NM, Richard later moved to Odessa, TX, where he began working in the oil fields before becoming a truck driver. As an owner-operator, he traveled to all 48 lower states over a career spanning more than 30 years.

After retiring, Richard moved to May, with his beloved fiancé, Tori McBride. He enjoyed spending his retirement boating and fishing on Lake Brownwood, watching old westerns, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, and following NASCAR races. Richard cherished the time he spent with his friends and the simple joys of life in May.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Walker; his mother, Lucille (Smith) Gibson; his sister, Marie Trusty; and his brother, Lonnie Walker. He is survived by his sister, Syldina Butler of Sierra Vista, AZ; his brother and sister-in-law, Mike Walker and Sylvia Walker of Alamogordo, NM; and his loving fiancée, Tori McBride of May.

Family and friends will gather for a small memorial service at a later date to honor and celebrate Richard’s life.

Cremation is under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
