The Brown County Sheriff’s Office posted the following information on social media Monday:

On 01/06/2025, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a potential phone scam. The call comes from a no caller ID number and a male subject stating he is Deputy Joshua Heart and names the person called. The one call we have been made aware of was voicemail where the suspect states that it is very imperative for you to call them back and provides a phone number of 325-936-2381. We do not call to solicit any money, payments of warrants or bonds from anyone. If you receive a call asking for money from someone stating that they are employed with the Sheriff’s Office, hang up. Also, if one of our deputies calls you due to a call or any other matter, we will not ask you to verify your identity with any personal identifying information.
