Bevy Joyce Kirwin, age 86, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, due to complications from a stroke she suffered a week prior.

Joyce, or “Baby Joyce,” as she was known by many family members, was born on December 26, 1938, in Freer, Texas. She was the only child of Ardell and Lloyd Authur “Pat” Patterson. Joyce grew up in Coleman, graduated from McMurry University, and returned to Coleman as an adult.

Joyce is greeted at the Heavenly Gates by her parents, Ardell and Pat Patterson.

Her legacy lives on in her daughter Kami and husband Brian Lusson, and son Shaun Kirwin. Joyce loved her grandchildren, Kyle Lusson and wife Lindsey, Kevin Lusson, Colton Lusson and wife Sydney, Kally Rutledge, and Patrick Kirwin, along with great-grandchildren, Lily, Gage, and Penelope Lusson.

The family graciously thanks cousin Melba Tisdale for her ongoing support of Joyce and the team of doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Hendrick Medical Center, Coleman County Medical Center, and Coleman Home Health and Hospice.

The family will host a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2024, at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service following the visitation at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2024, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Marvin Hale, pastor at Northside Baptist Church in Santa Anna, officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made in memory of Joyce to a charity of the donor’s choice.

We invite you to share fond memories and words of comfort and condolence with the Kirwin family by signing the guestbook on Joyce’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Kirwin family.
