Comanche County Sheriff Chris Pounds issued the following press release via the Texas Department of Public Safety:

In a coordinated effort between the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division (CID), a multi-month investigation culminated in executing a search and arrest warrant on December 20, 2024. The operation took place at 216 N Cato, De Leon.

Agents utilized the DPS Special Response Team (SRT) because of information gathered about the suspects, and tactics were employed to ensure the execution of the search and arrest warrant, resulting in no injuries.

The investigation led to the arrests of three individuals who were charged and put in the Comanche County Jail:

  • James Morton, 33, of De Leon,  was under investigation for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance (PG1 4-200 grams) in a Drug-Free Zone, classified as a first-degree felony, and Evading Arrest or Detention.
  • Christopher Tovar, 37, of De Leon,  had outstanding warrants for Theft,  Organized Retail Theft,  and a charge in Comanche County for Evading Arrest or Detention.
  • Alliyah Rios, 21, of Comanche, was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention.

This cooperative investigation underscores the commitment of local and state law enforcement agencies to address drug-related incidents and enhance community safety.
