It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Don Edward Walker on Thursday, December 19, 2024, following a stroke in Early, Texas. He was 89 years old.

Don was born October 3, 1935, in Levelland, Texas, to C.D. Walker and Winona (Tony) Caraway Walker. Don was an only child and beloved by his parents. He married Barbara Stovall in 1955, and had three children, Debra, Don, and Susan.

Don grew up in West Texas and moved to the Brownwood area in 1962. He owned several local businesses, was a member of the Brownwood Bass Club, and dedicated over 40 years of his life to youth sports including baseball, softball, and basketball. He coached over 1,000 local athletes and was honored in 2008 for his many years of service to the youth of central Texas.

Don is survived by his wife Barbara; his daughter Debra Walker of Brownwood, Texas; his son Don Walker and wife Kathy of Round Rock, Texas; his daughter Susan Kuykendall and husband Jeff of Early, Texas; and his foster daughter Amy DeBusk and husband Ben of Lamesa, Texas. He has 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Jordan Springs Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to local sports organizations or teams, in his memory.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
