According to multiple media outlets, Big Lots is planning to close all its remaining locations. Brownwood’s Big Lots store, located at 315 East Commerce, has been open for more than 20 years.

Big Lots filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September and closed more than 400 stores this year, and Thursday announced it is preparing to shutter its remaining locations totaling 963 in the United States.

In a press release, the company said it will begin “going out of business” sales after failing to complete its previously announced sales to Nexus Capital Management, a private equity firm.

A timetable for how long Big Lots will maintain the newly announced “going out of business” sales is uncertain. Some stores remained open for weeks or months earlier this year after closing sales began.
