Lady Lions knock off 2A No. 21 Goldthwaite in OT, 40-37

Icess Hall (3) led the rally with a game-high 18 points for Brownwood (11-6), which heads to San Angelo Lake View at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

GOLDTHWAITE – The Brownwood Lady Lions rallied for one of their grittiest wins of the season Friday night, knocking off the Class 2A No. 21 Goldthwaite Lady Eagles, 40-37, in overtime.

The Lady Lions (11-6) led Goldthwaite (14-5) by a 6-5 count after one quarter, but the Lady Eagles evened the score at 14 at halftime. Goldthwaite opened a 28-23 advantage heading into the fourth period, where the Lady Lions yielded just four points and scored nine to knot the score at 32-32 at the end of regulation.

In the extra session, Brownwood tacked on eight more points to its tally while only allowing five to snatch the victory.

Icess Hall led the Lady Lions offense with 18 points followed by nine from Nylah Hall, five from Hannah Deen, four from Trinity Roberts and two points apiece from Jade Morin and Kate Tindol.

The Lady Lions shot 29 percent (13 of 44) from the field, but converted 71 percent (10 of 14) of the free throws, grabbed 29 rebounds and recorded 12 steals to help overcome 23 turnovers.

Goldthwaite received 13 points from Rylee Greenway 12 points from Kenley Howard, five pints each from Lana Gore and Addisyn Howard, and two points from Jemma Williams.

The Lady Lions are back in action at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at San Angelo Lake View.
