Three from HPU named to D3Football.com All-Region Team

On Wednesday, D3Football.com released their 2024 All-Region selections and three Howard Payne Yellow Jackets were honored on the organization’s 20th annual list as All-Region 3.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and conferences were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible.

Gus Charles – 1st Team All-Region – Wide Receiver
As ASC Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Senior Gus Charles, a First Team All-Conference Selection as a wide receiver, led the league in receiving with 52 total receptions for a total of 970 yards. He averaged 121.3 yards per game while scoring five touchdowns. Charles tied with one other in the conference for longest reception with an 82-yard-long catch. He also received ASC weekly honors this season and this is his second time to be recognized on the all-conference teams.

KC Cornelious – 3rd Team All-Region – Cornerback
A 1st Team All-Conference Selection, senior KC Cornelious was 9th in the ASC in total tackles (50) and in pass breakups (4) with an interception. He had a season-high six tackles versus Nelson University. This is his second time receiving all-conference honors

Jacob Korrodi – 3rd Team All-Region – Safety
A 1st Team All-Conference Selection, senior Jacob Korrodi was 8th overall in the ASC in total tackles with 60. He was 3rd in the league in pass breakups (8), and 4th in interceptions with three. Jacob was also named ASC Defensive Player of the Week once this year.

The teams, selected in balloting by Region 3 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 195 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 3 includes the American Southwest Conference, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, the Southern Athletic Association, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the USA South Athletic Conference.
