The Brown County Sheriff’s Office issued the following press release Tuesday morning:

On November 27, 2024, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Brownwood Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Avenue C in Brownwood for a juvenile with a gunshot wound.

Deputies found a juvenile with a gunshot wound to the upper left chest area. The juvenile told investigators that the shooting was self-inflicted. Investigators spoke with all parties at the location and have further interviews to conduct.

The injured juvenile was transported to the Hendrick Medical Center and was later transported by helicopter to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth. The juvenile is currently in ICU at Cook Children’s Hospital.

The juvenile’s injuries are not reported to be life-threatening.

The investigation is ongoing.
