Jillian Johnson, 70, of Brownwood, died Friday, Nov. 22, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 11, 1953, to Rachel and Fred Green in Kermit, TX.

Jillian earned a bachelor of science degree from University of Texas Permian Basin, and a masters degree from Sul Ross University. She taught speech and communications at Southwest Texas Junior College in Eagle Pass. Her life led her in many directions, including a worldwide extended honeymoon trip with her late husband Jay.

Jillian was a founding member of the Brownwood Art Association’s Fiber and Textile Arts group. Her award-winning works, including paintings, quilts, macramé and textile collage will be featured at a special memorial exhibit at the BAA Art Center, 215 Fisk Ave., with an opening reception Thursday, Jan. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 9, from 2 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

She is survived by her mother, Rachel Beckner, sister Cat Bradley and brother-in-law Brad, and sister Mary Engle and brother-in-law Roger, all of Brownwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jillian’s name to the BAA Fiber and Textile Arts Group. Cremation has taken place.
