On November 9th, local youth competitive shotgun athlete Kayli DeVusser hosted the 3rd Annual Pull for Hope Sporting Clays Classic. The event is held each year in November at the Brownwood Claybird Club, a 32 station sporting clays center.
Kayli started Pull for Hope in honor of her cousin, Jameson, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just three years old. All proceeds of this event went to the Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Breakthrough T1D is the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization.
The event started with Kayli’s opening ceremony, welcoming 41 shooters to Pull for Hope. The participants went on to shoot a combined 8,851 targets.
In conclusion, Kayli and her cousin, Jameson presented the High Overall winner, Jon Dayton (University of Texas Shotgun Team coach) with a beautiful custom belt buckle.
This year’s event raised over $6000 for the Breakthrough T1D, and an additional $250 for Dexcom (glucose monitoring device) stickers for children with T1D.
Kayli would like to thank all of the 2024 Pull for Hope shooters and the following supporters; Buddy Gieb, Jon Dayton, Rex Tackett, Great- Aunt Teresa Heffington, Brownwood Claybird Club and the Klith and Busi Families.
