EARLY – The Early Lady Horns softball program is sending at least one member of the 2025 roster to the next level, as National Signing Day opened Friday with Marissa Reedy signing to play at Weatherford College.

Reedy was the District 8-3A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior with a .492 batting average, 40 hits, 4 home runs, 27 RBIs and only two strikeouts the entire year. She also earned academic all-district accolades.

“It’s really exciting knowing I’ve worked so hard all my life for this and it’s paid off,” Reedy said of continuing her softball career at the college level. “It’s surreal to be at this point because it’s everything I’ve worked for.”

Regarding why she chose Weatherford, Reedy said. “We played there a lot there with my travel ball teams and I had a good time talking to the coaches and it felt like home to me.”

Reedy stated Weatherford’s plans are to play her at both catcher and in the outfield.

As for her first-year expectations, Reedy said, “I just want to enjoy, not feel home sick, make new friends, and work my butt off.”

In the classroom, Reedy is still determining the career path she wants to pursue.

“I really want to do interior design, I’ve really found in interest in that lately,” she said. “If not that, maybe architecture or engineering.”

The Early Lady Horns are coming off a District 8-3A championship season, a 28-6-2 overall record and a trip to the second round of the playoffs in 2024.
