Lady Horns force playoff play-in match with Comanche after sweep of Dublin

Jensyn Rasor (2) recorded 14 kills for Early, as its play-in game is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at Dublin

DUBLIN – The Early Lady Horns created a tie for fourth place in the final District 8-3A volleyball standings, and a one-match playoff with the Comanche Maidens for the league’s final postseason berth thanks to Tuesday night’s 25-10, 25-12, 25-7 victory at Dublin.

The Lady Horns (17-18, 6-8) and Comanche (19-11, 6-8) are tentatively slated to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in Dublin with the winner advancing to the playoffs and the loser’s season coming to an end. The two teams split their two District 8-3A meetings.

In the win over Dublin, Early received 14 kills from Jensyn Rasor, six from Aubrie DeVillier, four from Tyley Simmons, three apiece from Grey Pruett and Jordan Simmons, and one each from Piper Pederson, Gabby Benson and Karley Smith.

Pruett distributed 20 assists while Cassidy Frerichs added six and Benson and Pedersen tacked on one each.

DeVillier and Pruett served two aces apiece followed by Tyley Simmons, Jordan Simmons and Benson with one each.

Defensively, Benson and Pruett each recorded 11 digs trailed by DeVillier with eight, Frerichs with seven, Aliyah Harlan with six, Rasor with three, Pedersen with two and Smith and Tyley Simmons each with one.

At the net, Jordan Simmons notched the lone block.
