Jean Morris, born on April 14, 1948, in Santa Anna, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 24 2024, in San Angelo, Texas. A dedicated bookkeeper and beloved stay-at-home mom, Jean exemplified a life marked by hard work, devotion to her family, and a genuine love for the simple pleasures in life.

Jean graduated from Santa Anna High School and, demonstrating her ambition and commitment to her profession, continued her education at business college where she honed her skills in bookkeeping. Her career, while important to her, never overshadowed her true passion—her family. As a devoted mother, she took immense pride in nurturing her daughters and creating a warm, loving home.

She embraced a variety of hobbies that reflected her creative spirit and resourcefulness. Jean found joy in playing Candy Crush, a pastime that allowed her to unwind and have fun. She was also passionate about jewelry making, canning, and gardening, frequently surrounding herself with plants that brought life and color to her surroundings.

Jean was a proud matriarch, leaving behind her daughter, Janet Payne, who continues to carry forward her legacy. Her love extended to her seven cherished grandchildren: Jessica Paris, Isiah Hickerson, Ieshia Hickerson, Justin Melvin, Crystal Carpenter, Cadie Melvin, and C.J. Melvin. Additionally, she is survived by eleven great-grandchildren: Ilyza Hickerson, J.D. and Rashard Hickerson, Brooklyn Harness, Cheyenne and Langston Melvin, Sofia Juarez, Genesis, Trinity, Abbigail Melvin, and Leigha Carpenter. Each of them holds precious memories of their time with her.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Greta Kline, and a daughter, Judy Weatherly. The bond with her family was unwavering, and her legacy will continue through the love and values she instilled in her descendants.

Jean Morris will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her dedication to family, and her unwavering strength. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.

The family would like to thank Concho Hearts Hospice and Park Plaza Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of San Angelo Texas for the wonderful care they gave Jean.

Cremation is under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman and inurnment will be at Coleman Cemetery. The family will have a private gathering on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Coleman Cemetery.

We invite you to share memories and kind words for the family on Jean’s tribute page by signing the guestbook at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Morris family.
