TOLAR – The Early Longhorns’ skid continued in Friday night’s District 5-3A Division II opener as the Tolar Rattlers dished out a fifth consecutive defeat, 56-0.

The trend of allowing more points than the week prior also unfortunately continued for Early (1-5, 0-0), which trailed Tolar (5-1, 1-0) by a 49-0 count at halftime en route to allowing the most points in a game in 2024.

Offensively, the Longhorns mustered just 161 yards of total offense – 89 through the air and 72 on the ground – with a pair of turnovers.

Quarterback Weston Barton completed 11 of 22 attempts to account for all the passing yards with two interceptions. Andrew Reedy caught five passes for 47 yards and Ben Bleth added three grabs for 36 yards.

On the ground, Cameron Love rushed for 62 yards and Brandon Walker added 17, as the rest of the Early ball carriers finished with negative yardage.

Next week, Early looks to earn its first victory at Longhorn Stadium in 2024 as it hosts Clifton (4-2, 1-0) – which slipped past Eastland (4-2, 0-1) by a 14-13 count – in the district home opener.
