Brownwood ISD issued the following press release Monday:

This month’s spotlight teacher is Ashley Gomez. Ms. Gomez is a Special Education English Teacher and Coach at Brownwood Middle School (BMS). She is a 2016 graduate of Brownwood High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in General Studies from Tarleton State University and obtained her Special Education certification through IteachTexas in 2020. She is certified to teach Special Education for grades EC-12. Ms. Gomez is a dedicated educator with four years of service at Brownwood ISD. Ms. Gomez is highly regarded by her colleagues for her exceptional dedication to both her students and fellow teachers. As the Reading/Language Arts (RLA) department head, she has shown remarkable leadership, organizing datadriven instruction and leading effective meetings. Ashley has really stepped up to the plate as the BMS RLA team lead and in addition to those duties she also coaches and does an excellent job with her athletes. Even despite recent knee surgery, she continues to excel in her dual roles as a teacher and coach. Brownwood ISD is fortunate to have inspirational teachers like Ms. Gomez, who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of our students and staff.

Our staff spotlight honoree for the month is Susan Baugh. Ms. Baugh is an ARD Facilitator at Brownwood High School (BHS). She is also a graduate of BHS who holds a BBA in Marketing from Tarleton State University and a Masters of Education from Howard Payne University. Additionally, she earned her Alternative Certification through IteachTexas. She holds multiple valid teaching certifications, including Generalist EC-4, 4-8, Special Education EC12, and Principal EC-12. Ms. Baugh has been with Brownwood ISD since 2004, initially hired as a TA. She began teaching in 2008 and transitioned to her current role as ARD Facilitator this year. Her colleagues praise her for being incredibly helpful to both themselves and the Special Education staff as a whole. Her extensive knowledge of Special Education is remarkable. She is considerate, punctual, and known as someone you can always count on. Brownwood ISD is proud to have dedicated staff like Ms. Baugh who are highly qualified, knowledgeable in their field, and consistently go the extra mile for our students and colleagues.
