Lady Horns notch second district volleyball victory over Dublin

Piper Pedersen (4) and the Early girls (13-15, 2-5) begin the second half of 8-3A Tuesday at home against Millsap,

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns volleyball team improved to 2-5 in District 8-3A action and 13-15 for the season with a 25-20, 25-16, 25-15 home victory over the Dublin Lady Lions Friday.

Offensively, Karley Smith led the charge with seven kills followed by Aubrie DeVillier and Ellie Shea with six each, Jensyn Rasor with five, Tyley Simmons with four, Grey Pruett with three, Jordan Simmons with two, and Piper Pedersen and Cassidy Frerichs with one each

Pruett dished out 18 assists trailed by Tyley Simmons and Frerichs with four apiece and DeVillier with one.

Aliyah Harlan served a team-high three aces trailed by Shea, DeVillier and Pruett with two apiece and Tyley Simmons with one.

Defensively, Gabby Benson logged 23 digs followed by Pruett with 13, DeVillier with eight, Tyley Simmons with six, Shea and Harlan with five apiece, Pedersen with four, and Smith and Frerichs each with one.

At the net, Shea and Rasor each registered three blocks and Smith and Devillier both tallied one.

The Lady Horns are back in action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday as they host Millsap to start the second half of district competition.
