Well, it’s that time of the year again – finally. Actually, I don’t know if I predict football games as much as I do baseball, maybe that’s an age thing, but anyway, fifty weeks out of the year we don’t do baseball. This is one of the two that we do, and either I pat myself on the back or cry!

I’m going to go back to the start of the 2024 baseball season. I picked in the National League West from among the Dodgers, San Diego, Arizona, Colorado, and Giants. I picked the Dodgers and anyway, I picked Arizona second and San Diego. Two of three, I got right.

In the National League East – Braves, Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Nationals – I picked it to be a two team race, Atlanta and Philadelphia. The Mets are better but the Phillies will be in the playoffs. Philadelphia may be the class of the league.

The National League Central, I had the Cubs, Reds, Brewers, Pirates, and the St. Louis Cardinals. All of them had pretty good seasons for a while. I’d picked the Cubs to win it and they won’t. Milwaukee second and that’s good.

The American League Central – White Sox, Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, and Minnesota. I pulled a goof ball move! I can’t believe I’m saying this! I can’t believe this… the Chicago White Sox this year… the Chicago White Sox finished dead last and in a record-setting fashion! They lost a hundred and twenty something ballgames! Why did I think they would win??? I don’t know. They turned out to be the worst team, not just this year but in history! I had Cleveland and Minnesota. I took Minnesota to win it and it’s not going to be close. Cleveland should have been the choice.

American League East, you’ve got Baltimore – boy they’re on a streak!

They won over a hundred games last year and they may be better this year. I got the Yankees with Baltimore and that’s a good pick!

And now, and now, I end up with the American League West. It’s the best Division in baseball probably for the second straight year. It was an amazing year! Houston at one time was like ten games back. The fact is they had like a twelve and twenty-nine record and written off. But, I hung in there with my Astros and they ended up the best Division in baseball and they conquered it! Oakland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Texas, and the Astros and here’s what I picked. Astros will win it and Seattle second. They may not win another crown but, at least they won this Division and they may not be through.

Those are the winners and the ones that ought to come out with, well, they ought to come out with something. They got in the playoffs anyway. They didn’t ask me to do this, but here’s what I picked. I picked the Astros to win the World Series over the Dodgers. Anyone surprised? Anyone surprised?

Until next time, so long everybody.
