Early volleyball defeats Brady in four sets in pre-district finale

Gabby Benson (10) recorded 30 digs for the Lady Horns (11-10), who open District 8-3A action at Millsap at 4 p.m. Friday.

BRADY – The Early Lady Horns overcame a shaky start and collected a four-set volleyball victory over Brady, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 in Tuesday’s pre-district finale.

Offensively, Early was sparked by the play of Aubrie DeVillier with 11 kills, along with Karley Smith and Jensyn Rasor with eight kills apiece, Tyley Simmons with seven, Grey Pruett with four, and Piper Pedersen with one.

Pruett dished out 26 assists while Cassidy Frerichs contributed seven, and Simmons and DeVillier were credited with one apiece.

Pruett also served a team-best three aces, with DeVillier and Pedersen chipping in two apiece and Gabby Benson adding one.

Defensively, Benson recorded a season-high 30 digs followed by DeVillier with 14, Frerich and Aliyah Harlan with seven apiece, Pruett with four, Smith with three, Simmons with two, and Pedersen and Rasor with one each.

At the net, Simmons notched six blocks, trailed by Rasor with four, Pedersen with two, and Smith and DeVillier with one apiece.

The Lady Horns (11-10) open District 8-3A action at Millsap at 4 p.m. Friday.
