Jason “Jay” Vedder, age 89, of Brownwood, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 30, 2024. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Friday, September 6, at Heartland Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Jason will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, September 7, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.

Jason was born on January 24, 1935 in Palenville, New York to Jason and Mary Vedder. He graduated from Woestina High School in New York, and soon after was drafted into the United States Air Force. Jason enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, playing dominos, and joining in on games of 42 with his family. In his younger years, Jason and Betty both enjoyed to dance.

Jason is survived by his daughter, Ethel Cumpton and husband Darrell G. Cumpton Sr.; 4 grandchildren, Jason McBride, Jeffery McBride and wife Nora, Joshua McBride, and Jacinda Gordon and husband Kevin; 14 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; brother, Chuck Vedder; numerous sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; sisters, Doris Howe and Mary Ann Wells; and brother, Don Vedder.
