SALSA, the Strategic Alliance for Leadership and Social Action, will begin a month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, with a fundraiser dance Saturday, September 14, 2024. The DJ dance will be at the former 325 Club, 717 W. Commerce, in Brownwood.

DJ Tigre’s playlist promises to keep everyone dancing, including everyone’s favorite cumbias, polkas, rancheras, country and more! Admission will be only $10, and doors will open at 7:30pm. This will be a BYOB event.

This fundraiser will start SALSA’s campaign to raise funds for scholarships to be awarded next spring to graduating seniors wanting to pursue some level of post-secondary education or training. Since 2021, SALSA has awarded over $50,000 in scholarships and some recipients are now phlebotomists, dental assistants, nurses, and teachers.

Ticket sales for SALSA’s popular 50-50 Raffle will start this Labor Day weekend and will continue through the month of September. A lucky winner and SALSA will split the proceeds 50-50. Ticket prices start at 1 for $1, 7 for $5, 15 for $10, and 30 for $20. The winner will be drawn on Saturday, September 28 at SALSA’s festival at the Depot.

Groups that want to help SALSA raise funds for scholarships can purchase tickets to sell to their members. If a member wins, the winner can donate their share to their respective organization or donate it back to SALSA as a tax-deductible contribution. To purchase tickets, contact Joel Andrade at 325.642.2955.
