Lady Horns post 2-1 pool play mark at Bronte volleyball tournament

BRONTE – The Early Lady Horns posted a 2-1 record in pool play at the Bronte volleyball tournament Friday, and will be back in bracket competition Saturday.

Early (9-7) started the day with a three-set 16-25, 25-22, 25-20 victory over San Angelo Cornerstone in a rematch of Tuesday action.

Offensive standouts were Ellie Shea with eight kills, trailed by Jensyn Rasor and Grey Pruett with three each, Piper Pedersen and Aubrie DeVillier with two apiece, and Karley Smith and Cassidy Frerichs with one each.

Pruett distributed 10 assists and Frerichs added six. Pruett also serve a pair of aces, as did Gabby Benson.

Leading the way defensively were Benson with 16 digs, DeVillier with eight, Aliyah Harlan with seven, Pruett and Smith with three apiece, Tyley Simmons with two, and Pedersen and Shea with one apiece.

At the net, Rasor recorded two blocks and Pruett contributed one.

The Lady Horns concluded the day with a 14-25, 25-21, 25-21 triumph over Sterling City.

Smith and DeVillier led the team in kills with four each, followed by Rasor with three, Simmons and Shea with two apiece, and Pruett and Benson with one each.

Pruett collected nine assists and Frerichs tacked on seven, while Simmons and Harlan each served an ace.

Defensively, Benson recorded eight digs followed by Preutt, DeVillier, Frerichs and Harlan with one apiece.

Shea contributed two blocks while Simmons and Rasor added one each.

In between, Early dropped a 25-17, 25-21 decision to Water Valley.

DeVillier tallied four kills while Shea added three and Rasor and Simmons each tallied one.

Pruett dished out eight assists and Frerichs was credited with one, while Benson served the lone ace.

The defensive end featured four digs each for Benson and DeVillier, and one apiece for Simmons, Shea and Harlan.

Rasor collected a pair of blocks and Devillier added one.
