The Brownwood Police Department shared the following information on social media Wednesday morning:

The Brownwood Emergency Communications Center was recently notified by our Frontier phone service that they will be conducting maintenance on the fiber optic line between Brownwood and Bangs. This will cause major interruption to our PD/County phone services which they are unable to minimize. Our phones will be out of service.

The Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office will lose regular phone service the morning of August 23rd from 12:00am until 6:00am. Brown County area-wide 911 service will be routed to a single cell phone kept in our Center.

If you have a true emergency, keep trying 911. If it is not an emergency, we ask that you wait until this work is complete.
